The Wonders of Space

As a fan of all things nature you cannot be a naturalist without knowing the nature of space and the moon. I am not a astronomer by any means but I do know that you cannot limit your natural understanding without understanding the nature of the universe. The earth, moon, sun, stars that we can see are all part of a larger tapestry. Nature extends beyond the forests, lakes and streams, and cities of our tiny blue marble. Nature extends far beyond what we often think. Space is the nature of the universe. It is wilderness; as dark and unforgiving as it may seem. Yet, almost as familiar as a nursery rhyme. Like the ocean; space calls to us. Lovers and poets often look to the moon to share deep feelings; craft words of passion. There is an air of romance and poetry for sure; then you have the dark and eerie feeling of something so vast and yet so empty in the space between. When you look up to the moon you can almost feel a odd sense of quiet and unease. Yet, this feeling can be calming. Wolves seems to call to the moon as they call to their kin. The moon sends the night hunters to take part in their nocturnal ventures. These are images that I have taken of the marvels and wonders of space from the ground. I have not been up in a spacecraft.

Space has often interested me. As a child of the 90s I had three generations in my family. I fell in love watching Star Wars, Men In Black, Lost in Space, Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica (1978), Apollo 13, Alien, Predator, Doctor Who, Firefly and other sci-fi films. I often wonder what it would be like to explore space. Space has always been a huge interest of mine. From a fictional standpoint but also from a non-fictional mind-set. Space is not just the final frontier to us Trekkies but it’s a real realm of mystery and complexity.
